About Studio 85 Pilates

Studio 85 Pilates is a private Reformer and Tower Pilates studio in East London, offering personalised one-to-one sessions designed around your body, your goals and your movement journey.

Why Reformer & Tower combined?

The combination of Reformer and Tower creates a unique multidirectional movement experience, where resistance can be applied simultaneously from different points of the body.

Rather than working against resistance in one direction, the body has to organise and stabilise itself while responding to several forces at once. This can encourage the deeper stabilising muscles to work alongside the larger muscles, while developing coordination between muscles working across the body and in opposing directions.

The moving carriage of the Reformer adds dynamic instability, while the Tower can provide resistance or assistance through springs, creating opportunities to maintain control while the body moves, lengthens, or resists movement.

This can develop strength, stability, balance, coordination and proprioception, deepening your awareness of where your body is in space and how its different parts are working together.

The result is a more complex and connected movement experience, where you begin to feel not just the movement of an individual limb or muscle, but how your whole body has to work together to create and control movement.

Why 1:1 sessions at Studio 85?

Because each 75 minute session dedicated to you can change the way you move.

In a 1:1 session, there’s no need to keep up with a class or work around someone else’s pace. We have the time to notice the small things: how you stand, stabilise, breathe, compensate and respond to movement. Using that information to make each exercise more meaningful.

You can ask questions, try things differently and receive immediate feedback. Movements can be broken down when something feels unfamiliar, progressed when you’re ready for more, or adapted when your body needs a different approach.

This focused attention can help you feel the difference, and over time, you can begin to recognise your own movement patterns, understand what helps you move well and take greater ownership of your practice.

That’s the value of 1:1 Pilates: having the time and attention to explore how you move, develop greater awareness and build a practice that evolves with you.

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a movement practice that focuses on strength, mobility, stability, coordination and control. Exercises are performed with mindful attention to breathing, alignment and precise movement, helping develop greater awareness of how the body moves and works together.

The Reformer

The Reformer is a piece of Pilates equipment with a moving carriage, springs, straps and a footbar. The springs provide adjustable resistance as the ca9rriage moves, allowing exercises to be performed lying, sitting, kneeling or standing. It can be used to strengthen and challenge the body, support movement and develop control and coordination.

The Tower

The Tower is a fixed frame attached to a Pilates apparatus or mat, using springs, straps and bars to provide resistance or assistance. Because the springs can work from different points and directions, the Tower can be used to challenge stability and control, support mobility and explore movement with greater precision.

My journey into Pilates has been shaped by more than 20 years of working professionally with the body through dance. That experience has given me a deep understanding of movement, alignment and the belief that every body has its own movement story.

I’m passionate about helping people develop a greater understanding of how their bodies move and discover the confidence that comes from moving with awareness and intention.

One-to-one sessions give us the time to listen, observe and explore. I create personalised Reformer and Tower Pilates sessions shaped around your body, your goals and your movement journey, adapting and progressing the work as you develop.

Whether you’re returning to movement after injury, building strength or simply looking to move with greater ease, my aim is to help you develop a more confident, curious and connected relationship with your body.

How I Create Your Personalised Programme

Every programme begins with a conversation about your goals and a closer look at how you move. This gives us a starting point and helps me understand what feels good, where you may need more support and what you want to achieve.

From there, I select and adapt exercises to create a programme that is appropriate, progressive and responsive to you. Your sessions may draw on Reformer, Tower, matwork and small equipment, depending on what will best support your development.

As you progress, your programme evolves with you; introducing new challenges, refining movement and building on what you’ve already achieved. The result is a practice that feels purposeful, varied and rewarding, helping you develop a greater understanding of your body while continuing to discover what it can do.
